Help with multimedia volume keys

I'm at a loss with my multimedia volume keys. They do the following:

Fn+VolDown: Volume does down, no OSD info.
Fn+VolUp: Nothing happens with the sound, no OSD info.
Fn+Mute: Nothing happens with the sound, but OSD does show muting icon.

In Settings > Keyboard > Application Shortcuts, I have no settings related to these keys. If it weren't for the fact that Fn+VolDown works, I'd try manually adding shortcuts here, but obviously something is happening somewhere else.

Note that all my other Fn+<KEY> combinations work fine.

Old logitech multimedia keyboard volume buttons works with this:
cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/amd64/iso-cd/debian-testing-amd64-xfce-CD-1.iso
It has kernel 4.2 and from experimental you can use kernel 4.3.
With dmesg command you can see how linux recognizes your laptop keyboard and with google check that if your hardware is supported.

have you tried my suggestion from your other post: https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=9955?

Specifically, installing and running xfce4-volumed (if your distro still packages it for 4.12) or possibly using xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin and configuring it to manage your multimedia keys (if you use pulseaudio)?

Yes, I did. Thanks for that. I've got xfce4-volumed-0.1.13-16.1.x86_64 installed, but the problems I describe above happen anyway.

The fact that the Fn+VolDown key works (without OSD output), the Fn+VolUp key does nothing (and has no OSD output), and the Fn+Mute key does nothing (but DOES INDEED produce OSD output) is very strange. Could three different bits of software be handling these three key combos?

The fact that all the other Fn+ keys work, including the Forward, Play/Pause and Rewind keys (with Amarok) puzzles me even further. If NOTHING worked, it would make more sense somehow!

As to xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin, openSUSE Leap 42.1 doesn't offer it. I do use PulseAudio, though, and pavucontrol works fine.

I use openSUSE, so I don't think that would be applicable, but thanks anyway!
