[Solved] Random Freeze

Hi

My system freezes randomly. RAM check was ok. I guess it has to do with graphics driver. Googling shows me I'm not the only one. A user suggests to turn off hardware acceleration: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … mments/147. I don't find any configuration file with this setting. How can I turn off hardware acceleration?

With root privileges, create that file with those contents. Log out and back in again for it to take effect. The X server will read that file when starting up and disable those features. You can confirm this by looking at your Xorg log file.

Re: [Solved] Random Freeze

Brilliant thanks. I will report in a few days if this solved the problem.

Re: [Solved] Random Freeze

After two days without any freeze I can tell this workaround works. Of course it's not the most elegant solution as hardware acceleration helps a lot. Hopefully this problem will be solved in the near future (HTML5 Video still crashes Firefox).
