Thunar right-click Send To Mail Recipient opens Firefox directory

Xubuntu 22.04

I would like to at last setup the Thunar context menu to properly open webmail (gmail).  Currently it opens Firefox, which is good, but it opens a file:/// page showing the Thunar directory I clicked from.

I believe I have Firefox setup correctly as about:preferences>Applications>mailto shows "Use Gmail".

In Default Applications (xfce-mime-settings) I have firefox selected under Mail Reader

How do I correct Thunar context menu?

I don't know if this is possible with web mail. Firefox would have to open a gmail tab or window, start creating an email and attach the file. With an email client installed absolutely. You can have firefox open with gmail easy enough but the rest would need to be done manually. My suggestion would be to use Thunderbird(or any email client) to make this easy.

firefox gmail.com

will open firefox with gmail but how do you get the file attached with a right click?

Well, you got me going in the right direction.  One step further, this commandline opens a compose box:

firefox https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#compose

That would be close enough.  I could Rt click, open email, then drop the file onto the compose window to attach.
Now, how do I edit the Send To>Mail Recipient to do this?

Ok, so it looks like I could ADD a Send To entry but not change the default entries.

Instead I just used the Thunar Configure Custom Actions and added an entry, with "firefox https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#compose"
Works perfect!  I can then just drag the file to the compose window & done.
