changing the close tab button on active tabs to not be red

Active tabs in xfce have a red close tab button while inactive ones have it grayed out. I was wondering if it is possible to change this in the settings or modifying the themes.
example of red x shown at https://imgur.com/a/s4w5r7y
same as below (if it embeds correctly)

Re: changing the close tab button on active tabs to not be red

Hello and welcome.

What version of thunar are you running and which Appearance (gtk theme) and icon themes do you use?

On recent versions of thunar you can affect this element via CSS using the ".thunar .reorderable-page:checked image" object path.

Yes.
You can search "XFCE Themes", or more specifically for xfwm (Windows Manager), "XFWM Themes".
For example:

Re: changing the close tab button on active tabs to not be red

This happens for programs other than thunar such as falkon, kate, and dolphin. Currently using Material-Black-Cherry-LA as the gtk theme and Tokyo Night-SE as the icon theme. I was wondering if it would be possible to find where the themes are located and manually edit that one specific icon. I know icons are stored in ~/.icons/$(whatever) but I do not know where the close tab button is located in it

Re: changing the close tab button on active tabs to not be red

however, somewhat interestingly, it does not use the tab-close.svg s or tab-close-other.svg s when making the tab close icon

It uses the window-close icon.

What version of thunar are you running?

Edit: also, what GTK and Icon themes are you using?

not using thunar, the image is dolphin. As stated above, currently using Material-Black-Cherry-LA as the gtk theme and Tokyo Night-SE as the icon theme. while this issue does not appear on thunar, it also does not appear when using other wms like kde plasma and gnome

Edit: issue also shows up on falkon (browser) and kate (text editor)

You may need to research how plasma/KDE manage that particular element and which one is used.

it also does not appear when using other wms like kde plasma and gnome

How exactly does it function in these environments? Do you mean you can change the icon? Xfce wouldn't be doing anything here to interfere with an application's request for icons. The icon theme would need to provide the icon that is being requested.

It sounds like your trying to use a GTK theme on a Qt app. Different languages. This may help.
