[SOLVED] Shorter suspend timeout?

We have that slider to set suspend timeout, but it only goes as low as 15 minutes.  Where's the actual setting stored?  I have reason to temporarily reduce it to just a couple of minutes and I presume if I know the correct file I'll be able to tweak that.

I think you're talking about this issue: https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-powe … -/issues/3
It's fixed in 4.19.3, but you can already change the setting via xfconf: see https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-powe … note_83785

Re: [SOLVED] Shorter suspend timeout?

Thanks:

% xfconf-query -n -c xfce4-power-manager -p "/xfce4-power-manager/inactivity-on-ac" -t uint -s 1

... gives me one minute before suspend, as advertised.  But where's the file where that setting is stored?

Re: [SOLVED] Shorter suspend timeout?

It's in ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-power-manager.xml, but don't edit this file by hand, xfconf will probably overwrite it, use xfconf-query instead.

Re: [SOLVED] Shorter suspend timeout?

Ok.  It's just a temporary thing anyway.  I'm trying to figure out the correct command in /etc/rc.local to let me wake up from suspend via the keyboard.  Used to be easy in Debian 11 but Debian 12 makes it harder.  A possible future option in xfce4?  Some folks have their machine under the desk or somewhere that the power button might not be easily accessible, so a keyboard wakeup would be a nice feature.  Thanks Tamaranch.

Re: [SOLVED] Shorter suspend timeout?

I don't know if it's to do with Xfce, my laptop wakes up when I press a key on the keyboard (internal keyboard or usb keyboard). Maybe ToZ will have more to say about it, if he passes by.

Re: [SOLVED] Shorter suspend timeout?

I think its an OS thing, still I'll bet Xfce could handle it if she wanted to.  Mind ... as I said, the rules changed between Debian 11 and 12, so maybe Xfce should stay out of it.  Wiser head will know what to do.

Those would be your system wakeups. Have a look at this Arch wiki article for more information. Once you figure out the correct address and command, you can add that to a system startup file.
