whisker menu doesn't get focus when popped up with command 4.18

I am using xfce4 with compiz and emerald.

When I click on the button whisker menu gets focus and the cursor is in the search field.

When I run xfce4-popup-whiskermenu it doesn't so I can't type and go, I have to click the search field.

Is this a me/compiz problem or an xfce problem?

Version is 4.18.

Hello and welcome.

It works for me both ways, so this must be a compiz issue. If you disable compiz and re-enable xfwm4, does it then work for you?

Ah yes, it's a compiz problem.

[time passes]

Ah, looks like it has to do with the focus position polling utility extension, which was on for enhanced zoom desktop which I never use anyway.

Oops, no that didn't fix it either, heh.

Guess I will have to make some kind of window rule or something. Or maybe it's related to focus prevention. More research to follow.
