That seems excessive - it should be nowhere near that (if that data is accurate). I believe the only things that the panel would write out would be settings changes (minimal) or error/warning messages.
Which distro and which version of Xfce are you running?
Does your distro have an ~/.xsession-errors file and if so, what is the size of the file?
Edit: do you get the same results from:
cat /proc/$(pidof xfce4-panel)/io

I'm using Linux Mint Xfce 4.16.
~/.xsession-errors is around 1.5 mb
