Hello,
I recently started using fedora with xfce.
But I have a problem with my icons of my
primary screen which is a laptop (otherwise I have 2 other
external display)
Icons don't want to keep their place after
restart, well not all, I have the impression
that it's always the same ones who don't want to stay in their places.
I have all kinds of icons (folders, files, shortcuts, ect ...)
When I only use my laptop, it's better, but
it is not yet that.
I specify that I was previously on Xubuntu, so I have
tried to use the same configuration but nothing helps.
On Xubuntu I didn't have this problem or very little.
Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome.

Hello,
so I see that it's all the new icons I created that don't stay in place,
the old ones stay in their place.
I have deleted all the files in ~/.config/xfce4/desktop.
It's quite random, sometimes the new ones stay in their place and sometimes not!
Whether with one screen or multiple screens.
How to restart the panel without restarting the system please?
Thank you

you mean the system icons like devices? it could be the order the system initializes them which could affect the order they are provided in whatever means is used to get the list of them.
do they just get re-ordered within a group where the group stays in the same place? the icons in ~/Desktop are not involved?

on occasion i have icon i created in ~/Desktop get out of order. i wrote a script that moves them all out, then back in, in file name order. i name them with leading digits to manage the order.
i am not giving out that code right now because it depends on a private library that is not yet ready for release.
