[solved]no startup or shutdown buttons xfce4 gentoo

someone told me here, but the files are not there anymore, and this post is really old, maybe a new fix or somethign?

so i can click my username up top in the pannel, but shutdown, restart, suspend, hibernate they are all blacked out. i have to logout, then sign into root and issue cmd

shutdown -h now

i am on gentoo linux with fresh xfce4 install.

solution

user$    echo "exec startxfce4 --with-ck-launch" > ~/.xinitrc

then

root#  rc-update add consolekit default
